Undergoing gastric sleeve surgery is one of the most important decisions you can make for your health. But surgery is only the beginning, what truly shapes your results is how you nourish your body afterward. That’s where your journey with CK Health Turkey’s dietitian Naz begins.
Think of this blog not just as a meal guide, but as a soft landing into your new life. Let’s explore how your meals evolve after surgery, week by week, and how your relationship with food becomes more mindful, gentle, and empowering.
Week 1: Liquid Healing
This is your body’s time to rest and recover. Your meals will be simple, soothing, and entirely liquid-based.
- Water, clear broth, herbal teas, protein shakes, and electrolyte-rich fluids.
- Sips only, as your stomach is still healing.
- Your dietitian will help guide hydration goals and ensure your protein intake begins gently.
Week 2: Full Liquids with Purpose
You’re still on liquids, but we can now begin to add some richness and comfort to your menu.
- Smooth protein shakes, thinned Greek yogurt, skimmed milk, creamy soups (strained), and lactose-free alternatives.
- You’re still sipping slowly, no gulping.
- Protein remains the focus. You may be aiming for 60-80g daily, depending on your needs.
Week 3: Puree Stage – Where Texture Returns
This is often an emotional stage, it’s your first real introduction to something that resembles eating again.
- Soft scrambled eggs, pureed chicken or fish, mashed vegetables, sugar-free applesauce.
- Everything must be blended or mashed to a baby food consistency.
- Chew slowly, even though food is soft. And stop at the first sign of fullness.
Week 4: Soft Foods, Gentle Reintroduction
Your plate becomes more colorful this week, but still very easy on your healing tummy.
- Steamed fish, soft cooked vegetables, tender minced meat, soft tofu, low-fat cheese.
- Meals become slightly more structured: 3 small meals, 1-2 snacks.
- Still no raw veggies, tough meats, or dense carbs.
CK Tip: Our dietitian will help create a soft food meal plan tailored to your protein, hydration, and vitamin goals.
Week 5-6: Exploring with Balance
This is the stage where life feels a bit more “normal” again, but it’s a new normal.
- You’ll start testing more textures and flavors, under guidance.
- Add healthy fats (avocado, olive oil), soft fruits (banana, melon), and cooked grains in small amounts.
- Hydration still comes between meals, not during.
CK Tip: Be ready to journal your meals and emotions. Noting what sits well (and what doesn’t) helps us refine your plan.
Beyond 6 Weeks: Personalization & Long-Term Balance
By now, you’re no longer following a rigid phase, you’re living a new lifestyle.
- Protein remains the hero of every plate.
- You’ll create routines that balance portion control, hunger cues, and enjoyment.
- Your dietitian remains a close partner adapting your plan as your energy increases, goals shift, or life happens.
CK Tip: We help you build meal plans for real life, including holidays, social events, cravings, and stress days.
