How Transit Bipartition (Roux-En-Y Anastomosis) performed?
The transit Bipartition procedure performed under general anesthesia using the laparoscopic technique. Five small incisions (length between 5 and 12 mm) are made for the insertion of laparoscopic surgical instruments. Using these tools, the upper part of the stomach will be used to create a small pouch (30ml to 50ml in size). The little pouch transforms into a new, smaller, stomach, and is completely separate from the rest of the stomach. This stomach is then joined to the jejunum which is in the middle portion of the small intestine. Bypassing the first part of the intestine, bypassing the duodenum. The rest of the stomach and duodenum remain in the body but no longer in use for food digestion. The mentioned operation above approximately takes between two to three hours.
