Eye Treatments
Eye diseases are physical disorders that develop due to environmental or genetic factors and can lead to various vision problems. All kinds of diseases that occur on the eyelids, the eye membrane that protects the eye from external influences and is known as the transparent layer, the tear ducts, the lens of the eye, or the nerve tissues that surround the eye are called eye diseases.
What are the symptoms of eye diseases?
Because any problem that occurs in the eyes, one of the most important sensory organs of the body, leads to a decline in vision or complaints of stinging, burning, and so on in the eye, the symptoms of eye diseases can be easily noticed.
- Heaviness and pain in the eyes,
- A foreign object has escaped into the eye.,
- Lacrimation in the form of tears, crying, burring problems in the eyes,
- Severe eye itching, redness and burning sensation,
- Narrowing of the visual field and visual impairment,
- Low eyelid and swelling of the eyelids,
What are the causes of eye diseases?
Eye diseases can develop due to genetic or environmental causes. The most common causes of eye diseases:
- Working in more or less light that makes it difficult to see,
- Eye damage that develops as a result of foreign body entering the eye,
- Side effects of sinusitis, headache, flu, colds and feverish diseases,
- Eye dryness problem that develops due to blockage of the tear ducts or environmental factors,
- Disorders such as diabetes, heart disease,
- Genetic characteristics (presence of eye disease in the family history).
What are the types of eye diseases?
Eye problems that arise due to increased television and smart device use can be mentioned with technology that develops together with many eye diseases of congenital (congenital) origin.
Glaucoma (Eye Pressure): A structural blockage that occurs in the channels that release intraocular fluid, caused by the inability to drain fluid to the outside in sufficient quantities, increases intraocular pressure. Increased eye pressure also causes loss of eye nerves, leading to problems such as blurred vision, severe head and eye pain.
Cataract (Lowering the Curtain of the Eye): Cataract, which has a higher incidence rate in older people and diabetics, is an eye disease in which the lens of the eye loses its transparency. With the loss of transparency of the lens of the eye, a painless and rapidly progressive loss of vision, dazzle and severe sensitivity to light develop.
Color Blindness: It is a vision problem that develops due to the lack of special pigments that allow you to distinguish colors in the center of vision or the lack of sufficient amounts of pigment, which is usually inherited. Color blindness is usually caused by the inability to distinguish one or more of the colors red, green, and blue.
Strabismus: Strabismus problem, which is often congenital or may occur as a result of accidents or febrile diseases, can be defined as an eye problem that prevents two eyes from looking parallel to a point.
Allergic Conjunctivitis: It can be said that the most common eye diseases in society develop as a result of eye allergies. Contact Eye Allergy that develops against drugs and makeup products, Spring Eye Allergy caused by a hot and dry climate, Seasonal Allergic Conjunctivitis, known as hay fever, is one of the most common allergic eye diseases.
Ectropion: Eyelid sagging that develops due to old age in old age is a common eye problem, also known as eyelid reversal.
What are the methods of treating eye diseases?
It is very important to choose the right treatment methods, as eye diseases that cause narrowing of the visual field adversely affect the quality of daily life. Different treatment methods have been developed for congenital eye disorders and vision problems that occur due to environmental factors. For the treatment of an eye problem that has been correctly diagnosed by a detailed eye exam, your doctor may prefer treatment methods such as using glasses, medication, or surgical intervention.
It should be taken into account that eye problems that are not treated effectively with the correct diagnosis can lead to rapid vision loss, eye examination and doctor’s control should not be neglected at the appropriate frequency.
Intraocular lens treatment
Intraocular lens treatment is a treatment method used for eye conditions such as cataracts. This method is based on the principle of replacing natural lenses in the eye with prosthetic lenses manufactured by special technology. The term lens here should not be confused with contact lenses. The lens we are talking about here is an extremely clear structure located inside our eye. It has very important functions, such as transmitting the light coming to the eye to the retina by refracting it, and allowing the eye to see objects at any distance.
What is Intraocular lens treatment?
In the past, one of the monofocal, i.e. single-focus lenses designed to see clearly near or far instead of removing the natural lens was used to treat cataract patients. In this case, it became mandatory for patients to wear glasses after treatment. Today, multifocal, that is, multifocal, intraocular lenses have begun to replace single-focus lenses. Because these lenses allow correcting vision disorders from all angles, making vision as natural as possible.
Multifocal lenses are designed in two different ways, two- or three-focus. Trifocal lenses, known as smart lenses, are the name given to three-focus lenses. When using smart lenses in the eye treatment of patients, there is no need to use glasses after treatment. These people can read books without glasses or easily see distant writings. Trifocal lenses are today’s most advanced intraocular lens technology. It positively affects the quality of life, as it provides uninterrupted and clear vision for close, medium and long distances.
